Easing into Autumn...Hello September

Hello sweet friends!

It’s been a while since I’ve sent out a newsletter…I took a break over the summer to focus fully on being with my family, and summer adventures. We were so blessed to have spent 5 weeks out east, camping and visiting friends and family. Some of the highlights included many beach days, a fiddle concert on PEI, an impromptu family reunion in Nova Scotia, and exploring Old Quebec with the kids.

While we were traveling the St. John’s Wort was blooming, and so I took the opportunity to work with this special plant friend. I have St. John’s Wort Oil, and St. John’s Wort tincture all ready to go now. The mullein was also very present on the East Coast. It kept popping its head up everywhere I went as if to say, “pick me! pick me!” And so on the very last day I gathered some mullein flowers to make an oil, and lots of mullein leaves. It is a blessing to work with the plant friends in this way.

Here in Guelph, the elderberries are in their full glory, and so I’ve been picking berries and making elderberry syrup. I use this syrup as an immune system support, especially now, as we are in a transition season. The change in weather can bring changes to our bodies, and so this plant helps bring ease to the changes. It is also a great friend to have on hand to reduce the duration of cold/flu symptoms.
